It's not the era of ordinary cigarettes, let's try El Gaucho cigar
Cigars are tobacco products that are burned and inhaled through pipes. The cigar comes from the word Sikar, a Mayan diction meaning "to smoke a roll
of tobacco leaves". One of the inventions from which this cigar originated
is the discovery of a Guatemalan urn – estimated to date from the 10th
century. On the urn, there is a painting of a Mayan who inhales a roll of
tobacco leaves.
Indonesia occupies the second position as a tobacco producer after Cuba. It’s
not surprising considering that the natural potential in Indonesia is so great.
This earned Indonesia the nickname a Promising Land by cigar makers from
Cuba. Another term in their language is La Tierra Prometadora.
There are several cities in Indonesia whose main commodity is tobacco, one
of them is the city of Jember which has the nickname Tobacco City. Many quality
cigars are produced in this city, such as El Gaucho which is produced by PT.
Besuki Raya Cigar. El Gaucho has two types, namely El Gaucho Premium and El
Gaucho Fantastico.
El Gaucho is the first cigar in Indonesia to have a box shape.
"So the shape of the box is if structurally, the airflow is better. So, when smoking the cigar it’s not hot even though it’s short." Said Mr. Fatkhur Rohman, Product Development PT. Besuki Raya Cigar Company.
This cigar has a long process that requires perseverance. Starting with the
stripping process – the process of removing tobacco leaf bones, to the drying
process at a certain temperature which takes about 3 days to produce quality
cigars. This drying technique is called slow drying which uses a temperature
that is not too high, but the time is long.
"So if we use the fast drying technique, the cigar can be cracked or broken." He said.
